Every undergraduate student completes The RPI Experience (TREX), RPI’s required experiential learning program. After your first year, you’ll take part in a semester-long experience—such as an internship, undergraduate research, study abroad or civic engagement—designed to help you build real-world skills, confidence and a strong foundation for your future career.

Most complete a co-op or internship, while others build skills through research, civic engagement or entrepreneurship—so you graduate career-ready. During the 2024–2025 academic year, students gained experience in 14 countries, four continents and in 40 US states, building global career readiness while still in school.
